After surgery or injury, you will need to learn how to apply compression using an elastic bandage, which is also called an ace or tensor bandage.

Here are the basic rules to remember:

  1. Firm but even pressure
  2. More pressure near the bottom, less pressure near the top
  3. Wrap in a diagonal pattern, not in circles
  4. Minimize wrinkles in the bandage
